The George Kirby, Jr. Paint Company was founded in 1846 as Humphrey, Kirby & Co. in New Bedford, Massachusetts. A short time later it was taken over by George Kirby Jr. Eventually the George Kirby Jr. Paint Company was formed and incorporated in 1909. Over 150 years later, we are still family-owned and operated.

Our current owner and President, George A. Kirby III operates the business alongside his son, you guessed it, George A. Kirby IV. Our retail store offers a full line of other-brand paints and supplies, but we specialize in manufacturing high-quality marine products.

Our paint formulas have been handed down from generation to generation. They are time-tested and proven to be durable and lasting. We offer many old, hard-to-find colors and can match just about any color if a sample is provided.
